Roy Keane slams Manchester United star player for costly mistake after blowing three goal lead Away Coventry

Manchester United star Roy Keane has singled out Andre Onana for criticism after his old team lost a three-goal lead against Coventry City.

The Red Devils entered Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium as overwhelming favourites against a team from the league below them.

After taking a 3-0 lead after 58 minutes, Erik ten Hag’s team seemed to have guaranteed their place in the final for the second consecutive season.

United’s Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, and Bruno Fernandes all scored, although Coventry cut the lead to three with an Ellis Simms goal.

Callum O’Hare scored in the 79th minute, followed by Haji Wright’s 95th-minute penalty for the Championship side.

That drove United into extra time, and Keane was angry in his comments on ITV.

‘I can’t believe what I’m witnessing,’ Keane stated after 90 minutes. ‘3-0 up and coasting, they start slowing the game down; you’re searching for leadership, and you see the custodian (Andre Onana) playing about.

‘Once it goes in, Coventry gains confidence and momentum. If Manchester United fails to win this game, I’m not sure what to say. Coventry deserves huge praise. United have been surprising.

After the first 15 minutes of extra time, Keane was furious with Amad Diallo for missing a golden opportunity to set his teammate Fernandes.

‘It’s really basic,’ Keane said. ‘You’ve got Bruno on a tremendous run; he’s got the option, and we simply had to slip him in.

Erik ten Hag is ready to resign from his position at Manchester United if one promise is not fulfilled.

But it’s still indecisive. It is not good enough. He ran out of ideas.

Speaking before of kickoff, Keane hailed United wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo and highlighted why he differs from Declan Rice and other players.

When asked about parallels to Rice, Keane said, “He lacks that physicality.” ‘He’s not six feet. But he’s clever. He’s nice and tidy. He’s had a fantastic few months, and there’s a possibility he’ll represent England at Euro 2024 this summer.
