Ralf Rangnick, who had been heavily considered to succeed Thomas Tuchel as Bayern Munich’s manager, has instead decided to stay with Austrian club Salzburg. Rangnick was formerly the manager of Manchester United.
Ralf Rangnick has declined a deal with Bayern Munich so that he may devote more time to coaching the Austrian national team.
After last month’s revelation that “Bayern Munich have contacted me and I have also informed the OFB (Austrian Football Association),” Rangnick said that he was in discussions to replace Thomas Tuchel, who is likely to depart Bayern at the conclusion of the season.
Our partnership is built on trust. Right now, I’m thinking about the Austrian national team. The European Championship is our exclusive priority. This place is perfect for me. I don’t see any pressing need for me to give it my whole attention right now.
“The second Bayern would threaten, ‘We want you,'”. “Do I really want this?” is the question I must ask afterwards. I shall consult the OFB before deciding on anything additional to do. Taking care of this Austrian squad to the best of our abilities is our first priority.

My staff and I are really tight, and we trust each other. Just because I promise to remain here for the next four years doesn’t mean it will play better.
Nevertheless, the former manager of Manchester United has promised to remain in his role as coach of the Austrian national team.
I am resolute in my commitment to seeing this project through to a successful conclusion. This is not an attack on Bayern; it’s a choice I’ve made in the interest of my squad and our shared objectives. The Euros are our exclusive focus. If we want to go far, we’ll have to do everything.
In 2022, after serving as United’s temporary manager, Rangnick was supposed to begin a consulting post with the club. He declined for the same reason. This was supposed to continue for another two years, but Rangnick accepted a position in Austria in April, and United confirmed his departure the following month.
The club released a statement expressing their gratitude to Ralf Rangnick, who had served as interim manager for the previous six months. The two parties have reached an understanding that Ralf will not be accepting a consulting position at Old Trafford but will instead devote his full attention to his new position as manager of the Austrian national team.
“We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.”
Meanwhile, after ruling out retaining Tuchel as manager, Bayern will move on to other possible possibilities.
Oh no. The choice must be evaluated at the moment it was taken, according to CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. “That was a whole new scenario. Another scenario has arisen; we want to make it to the final and, ideally, win the Champions League. If we could only stay together for a little while, we’d all be happy.
