Very happy to be here’ – Ten Hag slams journalists for taking Manchester United star of out context

Manchester United star slammed by media for removing context from his “very happy to be here” statement
Contrary to what you may have heard, Bruno Fernandes has no plans to leave Manchester United any time soon.

Even though the Portugal international will be attending Euro 2024 this summer, he will be staying there at Old Trafford for the next season.

Last week, Fernandes was interviewed by DAZN and his remarks about considering his future with United after the European Championships were taken out of context. He would only remain in Manchester if he and the club were in agreement about it.

At the time, we thought Fernandes would be a great addition to United. I would be really happy if Fernandes helped the team win the Premier League; he is the finest acquisition since Robin van Persie.

Ten Hag addressed the media just before United’s league match against Crystal Palace.

[That was taken out of context] was Ten Hag’s response when questioned about Fernandes’ remarks (via RTE). I am aware that he is a Manchester United fan and that he is obviously thrilled to be here.

The Dutch manager has stated his expectation that Fernandes would remain with the club until 2026, the end of his contract.

“One of the biggest assets top footballers have nowadays to show and deliver is taking responsibility,” Ten Hag continued.

A lot of other players look up to Bruno. He fights like a beast. Last year in the (FA Cup) semi-final against Brighton, he played with a thick ankle. I couldn’t believe it.

Despite his unable to run, he remained on the pitch. He never misses a beat, never fails to perform, and never fails to energise the squad. You can’t succeed without these resources.

On Monday night, United will go to Selhurst Park in an effort to better their Premier League standing of seventh.

Palace, our opponents tonight, are now 14th in the league. Having our captain, Fernandes, out with a protective medical wrap on his wrist, is a major setback for United.
