Despite Ten Hag’s tough second season at United, the club still has a shot of winning a trophy this season.
You never know in a one-off match at Wembley, but beating City won’t be easy.

Matej Kovar is in the midst of something really extraordinary, while the rest of United’s players will be hoping to win some hardware before the season is up.
Having made an impression while on loan at Sparta Prague in his home country of the Czech Republic, Kovar departed United at the conclusion of last season.

Going to Germany, the 24-year-old became Bayer Leverkusen’s backup goalkeeper, following in the footsteps of Lukas Hradecky.
After defeating Augsburg, Leverkusen finished their Bundesliga season undefeated, capping off an impressive year overall.
It is absolutely absurd that Leverkusen became the first Bundesliga team to go undefeated in a single season and win the championship, especially considering they had never won the Bundesliga title before this season.
Kovar has played a significant role in their Europa League campaign despite just making one appearance in the Bundesliga.
They are already in the finals of the Europa League and the DFB-Pokal, as if being undefeated in the Bundesliga season wasn’t impressive enough.
This puts Kovar and Leverkusen in the absurd position of having the chance to finish the season with a perfect treble.
While Kovar’s playing time may have been less than ideal, he was still an integral part of an incredible season.
Kovar has now posted a selfie with the Bundesliga trophy on social media, captioning it “Deutsche Meister” (German champion).
In addition to Timothy Fosu-Mensah, an ex-United youth who is now playing for Kovar’s Leverkusen team, words of support were provided by Ro’Shaun Williams, Ethan Galbraith, and Di’Shon Bernard, all of whom were formerly talented players for United.
A first-option deal and buy-back clause were both worked out by United, so he still has a shot of playing for the club again at Old Trafford.
Despite Altay Bayindir’s lack of playing time, Andre Onana seems to have established himself as United’s starting goalkeeper after a rocky introduction to Manchester.
While playing for Leverkusen in the Europa League, Kovar proved to be an excellent backup goalkeeper, which may be useful if United ever need one.
Who could have predicted that Jonny Evans would be returning to United? I guess you can never say never.
Even though Kovar may return to United in the future, he is now reveling in his role in Leverkusen’s historic season.
