Casemiro, a midfielder for Manchester United, was “not 100 per cent” fit to play before the match.
Given his little injury, Manchester United midfielder Casemiro informed Erik ten Hag that he did not want to play in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Despite being ‘not 100 per cent’ before Saturday’s final at Wembley, the Brazil international was designated a substitute that afternoon.
But there was a last-minute substitution: Willy Kambwala replaced Casemiro on the bench before the game even started.
According to BBC Sport, the former Real Madrid player informed ten Hag that he was experiencing tightness in his hamstring and asked not to be used in any way, not even as a substitute.
Top Storiesby Metro Casemiro had a rough second season with Manchester, playing center half in the last month of the season due to the team’s injury woes.
After heavy criticism of his play against Burnley, Crystal Palace, and Arsenal, ten Hag was able to field a more familiar backline versus City on Saturday thanks to the return of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
They started at center back, and Kobbie Mainoo had his greatest game of the season, while Sofyan Amrabat kept his midfield spot.

After celebrating with his teammates on the Wembley pitch with the trophy, Casemiro reportedly made a quick appearance at the post-game party before boarding a private plane to take a family vacation.
Many believe that United will trade for players like Casemiro this summer. Several Saudi Arabian clubs are interested in the 31-year-old, who signed with Al-Nassr two years ago after leaving Real Madrid. He may play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo again.
Jamie Carragher slammed the midfielder after the 4-0 loss at Palace, saying he should “call it a day” after the season.
Casemiro, a midfielder for Manchester United, has been said to be leaving the club this summer.
However, Casemiro has maintained that he is not yet ready to retire from football.
According to his interview with Sky Sports, he has been feeling great and has maintained his mental clarity and energy levels.
It has been demonstrated, yet I suppose some still bring up the age aspect. Our 39-year-old friend Thiago Silva just showed up and proved that, yeah, you can play. Prior winners of the Ballon d’Or were above the age of 34.
Then there’s Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City. Salah on the field for Liverpool. Age is irrelevant, in my opinion; what matters is being able to analyse one’s game and be aware of everything going on around the game.
If you want to know what’s going on in football without having to worry about a player’s age, you need to talk to these folks.
Every day I get to play here, though, and I couldn’t be happier. Manchester United, as I often say, provided me with what I desired. Having fun watching the Premier League games is a wonderful feeling.
That being said, I’m glad to be at Manchester United and taking in the match.
