Manchester United receive clear Erik ten Hag future response after FA Cup win

The future of Erik ten Hag as manager of Manchester United is still up in the air.

At the weekend, Erik ten Hag captained Manchester United to the FA Cup title at Wembley.
The number of Manchester United fans who want Erik ten Hag to remain with the club beyond the upcoming season has grown.

After United’s FA Cup victory over Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday, the Manchester Evening News claimed on Monday afternoon that the club is contemplating keeping the Dutchman as manager. Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scored for the Reds, who went on to defeat their neighbors 2-1.

United allegedly notified the representatives of possible Ten Hag successors that they have not ruled out the possibility of retaining the former Ajax chief. Under his leadership, the team has won two championships in a row.

Ten Hag should be allowed a third season in charge, according to 77.7 percent of the 10,082 submissions submitted. United made it to three cup finals in his first two seasons as manager, including a pair of victories.

But 1,343 survey takers have voiced their opinion that he should be fired, arguing that even with the FA Cup, he should not be retained. Out of the total number of votes cast, 905 are still undecided.

The events at Wembley have, unsurprisingly, increased the number of United supporters who believe INEOS should continue to work with Ten Hag in preparation for the 2024–25 season. That becomes clear when looking at the data from the poll that MEN Sport ran following the 4-0 loss against Crystal Palace in early May.

Back then, MEN Sport wanted to know whether United should fire Ten Hag right away, let him finish the season before firing him, or hold on to him and support him in the transfer market this summer. Only 39.2% of his backers wanted him to remain out of nearly 14,000 submissions made on that occasion.

United have won the FA Cup, qualified for the Europa League, and posted three wins from four matches since that 4-0 humiliation at Selhurst Park on May 6. Rumor has it that INEOS will wait to make a final choice on Ten Hag after reviewing United’s season.
