The Turkish media has been hyping a transfer to Celtic for Altay Bayindir, who is reportedly about to leave Manchester United.
Last summer, Manchester United made significant changes to their goalkeeping department. De Gea David departed. Dean Henderson also did. Andre Onana was recruited to take over as number one, and Altay Bayindir, who was previously unknown, was also acquired.
Initial reports indicated that the Turk was making a huge impression in training when he came from Fenerbahce. We all thought an opportunity for Bayindir was coming up the next time Onana was having a tough time. It was a bust.
Altay started only one game all season, and that was in the FA Cup against Newport County. Actually, there is still a lot about the goalie that remains unknown. Regardless, he may be nearing the end of his Old Trafford trip.
According to a report from the Turkish media site Aksam, Give Me Sport has covered the newest developments involving Altay. The 26-year-old United player is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club, however he may stay in the UK and a transfer to Celtic is imminent.
Joe Hart is leaving the Hoops after three years in Scotland, and they are searching for a real talent to replace him.
Bayindir played for a top-tier team in Fenerbahce, so I get the impression he could hold his own against Celtic (no offence intended).
The fact that Bayindir was never given a meaningful chance to contribute to the squad is disappointing, but it’s easy to see why that happened. After signing a lucrative deal, Onana was guaranteed regular playing time whenever he was healthy. The Cameroonian player missed only one game throughout the whole AFCON tournament and never suffered an injury.
The player’s wish to go is, however, very understandable. Altay has to be playing often if he wants to realise his full potential, and he is still in the early stages of his gaming career.
