Milos Kerkez, a left defender for Bournemouth, may be available to Manchester United this summer.
Manchester United struggled at left back last year. Despite our best efforts, Tyrell Malacia sat out the whole season due to injury, while Luke Shaw missed more games than anybody would have liked. Because of this, Diogo Dalot started spending most of his time there, even though he’s more effective on the right side of the pitch.
Even though Manchester United have a number more transfer windows to open, maybe a new left-sided defender should be on the top of the priority list. A permanent agreement has been signed by Alvaro Fernandez with Benfica, so I guess he may have been next in line for a few minutes.
Now, talkSPORT thinks they’ve found a United target in Milos Kerkez who may be a good fit in that position.
The 20-year-old left defender plays for Bournemouth in the Premier League and is reportedly ‘interested’ in joining United.
United are considering the Hungarian international Kerkez as a “competition and cover” option for Shaw, as noted before.
Is that the problem? The player is expected to fetch a hefty transfer price from Bournemouth. The South Coast club are not pushed to sell, although talkSPORT has not disclosed an exact price.
In his first season with Bournemouth, Kerkez played in 33 games and established himself as one of the team’s top performers. He had an impressive career coming up through the AC Milan junior system.
Additionally, this may provide some insight into Malacia’s potential future with the club. United is considering a different left back because they have faith in the Dutchman. United may be worried about the ex-Feyenoord player’s injury status, and how long it will take Malacia to recover is anyone’s estimate.
