The legendary Edinson Cavani has called it quits after his stellar career with Manchester United. With the 37-year-old’s announcement of retirement, football is losing a true icon.
Thanks to an emotional Instagram remark he delivered to Cavani, Facundo Pellistri seems to concur with the legend part. Gracias por todo Leyenda was written by the 22-year-old beside a photo of the Uruguayan that he submitted to his tale.
“Thanks for everything, Legend” is the exact translation of Ezoic Pelistri’s letter to Cavani. In the view of many European fan groups, the 37-year-old has undoubtedly done enough to cement his legacy as a legend.
Cavani and Manchester United did not have the kind of success that both players had hoped for during his time there. Still, in 682 games played, he had a fantastic career, contributing to 383 goals and 73 assists.

Countless championships were won by the Uruguayan throughout his reign at the pinnacle. A total of 34 trophies, including individual and team ones, adorn Cavani’s trophy case. A UCL title would be the icing on the cake for the 37-year-old’s already stellar résumé.

Cavani made 18 appearances and scored 12 goals in his last season with Boca Juniors. Regardless of whether he was successful at Old Trafford or not, the audience will still applaud him.
