Jadon Sancho and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s falling out is a “multi-factorial” issue, according to Jose Mourinho.

After returning to BVB on loan from United in January, Sancho is scheduled to play for Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday.

After reacting violently on social media to his manager’s public criticism and refusing to apologise, the winger was kicked out of Ten Hag’s first squad in September.

In an interview with TNT Sports, Mourinho, a former United manager, defended Sancho and discussed his comeback at Dortmund, saying Ten Hag did not “get the best out of him.”

“Normally, it’s multi-factorial,” Mourinho said in response to a question about if Sancho was let down by United. Usually, it’s not the club, the agent, the player, the manager, or the family.

As a coach, however, I can say that I was successful on many occasions in bringing out the best in my younger players, setting them up for success in the years to come. Other times, I was unsuccessful. Without a doubt, we are involved, even if there are several factors. As coaches, we strive to point the players on the proper path based on our experience and the countless instances of déjà vu that come with age.

“In this instance, I believe they examine it and undoubtedly attempt to assess what transpired at Manchester United and what he discovered in
