Dortmund boss makes Jadon Sancho prediction after Champions League final defeat

Whether or not Jadon Sancho is playing for Borussia Dortmund, Edin Terzic is certain that the youngster will soon be a part of another Champions League final.

After being kicked out of the first squad by Erik ten Hag, Sancho returned to his German side in January and departed Manchester United.

Thanks to the winger’s impressive play in the Champions League quarterfinals, Dortmund advanced to the championship game.

Although he had a few promising first-half chances, he struggled in the second and was substituted for by Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in the last stages of Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory in Saturday’s final.

What happens next to Sancho is anybody’s guess. Even though Manchester United have not yet made a definitive decision about his future, his time there seems to be over just three years after his £73 million transfer.

At the same time, Dortmund may have financial difficulties in signing the Londoner to a permanent contract this summer.

After his team lost 2-0 at Wembley, Dortmund manager Josip Terzic gushed over Jadon Sancho, saying the 24-year-old had a revolutionary impact on the team since joining in January and predicted that he would soon be playing on the greatest platform again.

‘Jadon has been excellent for us the past six months,’ Terzic said during a news conference after the match.

He had to work on his fitness for a while, but his abilities and quality are immediately apparent; he will help us win more games. Every player around him saw an improvement in their game as a result of his efforts.

Playing with his first touch is second nature to him; he’s naturally skilled and has never given it any consideration.

I refrained from discussing what lies ahead because our focus has been squarely on the here and now, which for him has been playing in the Champions League final in his hometown—a moment that has immense significance.

Having Jadon on board makes me happy, and I believe you can sense the happiness he finds and brings to the dressing room. It’s a pleasure to work with Jadon.

“The future holds no guarantees, but one thing is certain: he will reach another Champions League final.”
