INEOS favorite opens door to shock Manchester United move, may be Mainoo’s perfect partner in future

This is one of those transfer speculations that, with more reflection, seems somewhat more plausible.

With Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and Sofyan Amrabat expected to leave this summer, Manchester United will be in need of midfielders.

The lack of individuals who can collect the ball in the middle of the field and propel the team forward with winding carries has been an issue for the running game all season long, even during Erik ten Hag’s reign as a coach.

Manchester United’s only real option for a dynamic, box-to-box number eight is Kobbie Mainoo. Almost every time Mainoo has worn the United red jersey in 2024, he has been the greatest player on the field. That February 2-1 victory against Luton Town was one of the few outliers, however.

A game in which Ross Barkley, despite being 30 years old and having spent years in seclusion, hinted at what may be the biggest return to form since Michael Keaton’s 2015 Golden Globe victory.

Ross Barkley linked to Manchester United

Barkley says Sky Sports, “I believe I can compete with the top players at Man City and Arsenal.” This statement comes from a transformed Barkley.

Additionally, he has. In December, Barkley was outstanding for Luton in a 4-3 FA Cup loss against Pep Guardiola’s Arsenal, and he also had two assists in that match. Barkley is now displaying confidence and consistency in his performance, 10 years after his breakthrough at Everton and six after joining Chelsea.

In my opinion, I am self-assured enough to grasp their capabilities and limitations.

When we face Manchester City, they’ll have the most of the ball, so it comes down to your playmaking when you’re not in control. I think I can take advantage of certain situations, however. Going forward, we must remain united and in the correct positions. With any luck, I’ll be able to get things done.

According to a February article in The Sun, Manchester United were considering a’shock’ transfer for Barkley, who is expected to depart Luton in the event of a relegation. For those who haven’t been following Barkley’s season, it’s somewhat surprising.

The playmaker, who was born in Liverpool, has a reputation for being a squandered talent, but those who have been around him will tell you that it doesn’t matter. Few would have a problem with Manchester United signing Ross Barkley, even on a short-term and inexpensive contract, if his name wasn’t Ross Barkley.

Partnerships with Ineos facilitate transaction

“I want to play in the Premier League,” Barkley says, giving Manchester United an opportunity to increase their interest. I would want to perform in Europe one again.

That isn’t my current priority, however. Keeping the team in the league is my goal. Oh, how I like the club. I am quite grateful to them since it has been beneficial to me. Therefore, I am totally devoted to it and my thoughts are only on how to assist them in doing that.

Barkley had an interesting stint in 2022–23 with INEOS’ Nice operation across the Channel. He is supposedly on Manchester United’s radar, along with Jean-Clair Todibo, Melvin Bard, and Khephren Thuram, all of whom are known to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s team.
