This summer, Manchester United are thinking about signing Miguel Gutierrez, a defender for Girona. Speculation around the highly-rated Spaniard is at an all-time high, according to sources from Give Me Sport.
After a breakout season in which he played in 30 games for the tenacious La Liga challengers, 22-year-old Gutierrez is reportedly attracting interest from the Premier League.
After pushing Real Madrid and Barcelona, its Classico rivals, for first place in Spain’s premier division, Girona have shocked everyone this season and are now projected to finish third.
The left back has set up six goals, while Gutierrez has grabbed one. After missing England regulars Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia for a large portion of this term, United are eager to bolster the same position when the market reopens, according to the Manchester Evening News.
In the same piece, Give Me Sport mentions West Ham and Arsenal as potential bidders. Gutierrez joined Girona two years ago from Real Madrid, and he is still under contract with the club until 2027.
Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof has reportedly been named as Galatasaray’s top defensive target for the next summer transfer window, according to Turkish magazine A Spor. The 29-year-old Lindelof has a year left on his contract after joining United from Benfica in 2017.
When the transfer market opens again, United are expected to bolster their central defence, and Lindelof might be one player they decide is no longer needed, all in an effort to raise money for their recruiting push. The Sweden captain is reportedly wanted by Galatasaray at a cost of about £15–20 million.
This season, Lindelof has played in 27 games for United. Presently, he is not playing due to an injury.
