Manchester United wonderkid who snubbed Bayern Munich and Barcelona could now leave for free

Lately, Manchester United have reaped the benefits of their illustrious youth system.

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, who won the FA Youth Cup together, are now regulars in the first squad, which has saved the club a lot of money on transfers.

Young striker Ethan Wheatley, who helped the under-18s team win two games in a row, made his debut last week, so we can expect more from the academy.

Among those who might fall by the wayside is a player who was once considered Manchester United’s top young talent.

It is possible that Shola Shoretire will go.

United are vying for the services of promising youngster Shola Shoretire, who has struggled to get playing time under Erik ten Hag.

This summer, Shoretire’s current contract will expire. He is currently 20 years old.

In 2021, the offensive midfielder made his first team debut, becoming one of United’s youngest players ever.

According to Talksport, this occurred shortly after Shoretire rejected offers from many teams, including Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain, before signing his professional deal.

Though, looking back, you may ask if Shoretire wouldn’t have been better off if he’d taken one of those routes instead of following his ambition at United.

Shoretire has only appeared once this season, on the United first team bench for the FA Cup match against Wigan Athletic in January. He did not start.

Under both Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he made two appearances for the club, for a total of five.

According to the MEN, United are still attempting to convince Shola Shoretire to remain, but they are up against a steep hill.

Like another little record-breaking offensive midfielder, Angel Gomes, Shoretire may be tempted to leave United in 2020 after a similar situation.

He hasn’t played for the under-21s since December due to a minor injury and is now sidelined. Late in January was the last time we saw him at first team training.

Shoretire started the season well, contributing to five assists and nine goals.

If he doesn’t return for United’s under-21 play-off game tonight, we could have seen him don the Red Devils jersey for the last time.
